A Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop on Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) Certification

We at the Association of Ghana Apparel Manufacturers (AGAM) were pleased to take part in a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop from Tuesday 10th to Wednesday 11th June, 2025 at Fiesta Royale Hotel, Dzorwulu on the Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certification—an important step toward strengthening ethical and sustainable production in Ghana’s apparel sector.

Organised by GIZ’s Invest for Jobs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI), WRAP, and other key partners, the workshop brought together garment manufacturers, audit firms and academia. Together, we explored WRAP’s essential areas like worker rights, health and safety, environmental responsibility, and legal compliance.

AGAM is committed to building local capacity and creating pathways for our members and industry to access international markets. This training also helped lay the foundation for developing a qualified local pool of WRAP auditors—an important milestone for Ghana’s apparel ecosystem.

We were especially honoured by the participation of Hon. Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Mr. John Duti, Team Lead of Invest for Jobs, who emphasized the importance of compliance and certification in elevating Ghana’s global competitiveness in textiles and garments.

This effort forms part of the broader Africa Fashion & Textile Accelerator Network (Africa FAN)* project under the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ GmbH.

AGAM remains committed to ensuring Ghana’s apparel industry thrives—responsibly, sustainably, and globally.
