ILO Debriefing Workshop on AGAM’s Participation at MAGIC Las Vegas Fashion Trade Show August, 2024

The MAGIC Las Vegas Fashion Trade Show exhibition, sponsored by the International Labour Organization and the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, provided insights into Ghana’s presence at this global apparel market event.

The debrief gathered key stakeholders from Ghana’s apparel industry. AGAM National Coordinator, Nana Poquah Adiamah, presented the delegation’s findings alongside representatives from the Tony Blair Institute, Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. AGAM member companies, including Cyndex Ltd, Charisma Fashion Limited., and Jem Afrik Creations, also shared their experiences and learnings from the trade fair.

Key outcomes discussed:
✅ Valuable leads collected
✅ Connections established with potential investors
✅ Increased visibility for Ghana’s apparel manufacturing capabilities
✅ Insights on attracting the right audience: focusing on displaying products that align with buyers’ current interests, rather than traditional patterns

While competition at MAGIC was strong, the general consensus was that the delegation’s participation was successful. Particpants are now focused on following up on these new opportunities and applying the lessons learned about effective product presentation, aiming to strengthen Ghana’s position in the global apparel supply chain.

This trade fair participation highlights the growing recognition of Ghana as an emerging player in Africa’s apparel industry. With its stable political environment, skilled English-speaking workforce, and attractive investment incentives, Ghana continues to demonstrate its potential as a viable destination for apparel manufacturing.
